Rob Thomas: Eff That Guy

Mon Sep 15, 2008, 8:29 PM
Don't worry about the title, kids. I'm going to hell anyway. And nobody likes Rob Thomas.

I'd just like to say that for once, Rob Thomas did not (completely) ruin our good time. First Avenue is all-encompassingly immune to his wretched attempts at ribaldry and life-ruining. And Flans may be a liar, but we love him however he is. Iggy at least had his story straight: best. show. ever. *throws hands up carelessly*

More mischievous and crafty plotting to come. Rob Thomas shall be smited.

P.S. I've heard of the Rain Dance, but is there an Anti-Rain Dance? This would be handy to know for future reference...

Boyz II Men

Mon Aug 18, 2008, 11:41 PM
I just got back from a two days vacation (four days with travel time) from my seriously hectic life. *cough*yeahright*cough*

I went to St. Louis with my sister and a friend, and it was good times. We spent some time at Forest Park and went to an art museum and the zoo. We also spent some time at the St. Louis Loop, where there was a very righteous record/music shop. They were so righteous they had Distortion on vinyl, both Oppenheimer CDs in stock, and Vol. 2 of 69 Love Songs (used!) which I needed in order to be happy in life. Oh, we also ordered a cookie cake and asked them to write "Boyz II Men" on it. They did, and it was incredible.

The next day we went to Six Flags....where I rode my first rollercoaster....and then we went to the top of the St. Louis Arch. The Arch had to be the most surreal part of the trip. It was like a Science Fiction flick in there, complete with transport pods that conveyed visitors to the top. The view was very nice at sunset, and I wasn't even afraid of the mind-boggling heights! Okay, maybe I was a little afraid inwardly, but outwardly less-so if only to spite my sister who was making comments about the Arch falling over at any moment.........scallawag.

Sorry. That probably wasn't necessary to relate, but I felt like I needed a journal update.

Thank you for tolerating me.

Very long postscript:

We came up with an itinerary for the trip, which I found amusing. The list included, but was not limited to:

- Eat 1/2 lb. cheese curds
- Go see Christmas trees @ Target
- Go back in time and see Boyz II Men in concert
- Get depressed.
- Have staring contest w/ pool patrons
- Blend in w/ crowd

Thank you again for tolerating me, or at least pretending to.

Au revoir, mes amis!

Regretably, I must inform you all that I am leaving for Washington state tonight, and I will probably not have internet access for the next two weeks. Not that you should feel obligated to miss me...but rather, know that I am not dead and that I have no immediate plans for hurtling towards my end-of-days. So, until later my friends! I shall miss you all terribly. *bow of courteous regard*

Random and Pointless: MY Kind of Journal!

Wed Apr 23, 2008, 2:52 PM
I hope today's Random and Pointless Story finds you well.

So, check it out...I was just working on my ridiculously long paper for Ethnic Studies last night when I receive a message from my sister's boyfriend, Eric. He gets to his point immediately: "I need to find: A video with a fish head (only the fish head, but there can also be whole fish in it as well as long as there's a fish head at some point), a black shirt, bullets, and an SUV." He also tells me that $20 is riding on him finding this video. I don't ask why.

At this point, I'm glad to take a break from my paper, so I decide to help him search for this mysterious video.

After a little searching, I find something that says "Torchwood". Being the Whovian nerd that I am, I click on it. It was a description of the episode "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" which can be found here if you're interested: [link]
(Disclaimer: Torchwood can be kinda violent, kids. Be warned.)

So, it turns out that this episode of Torchwood has all those qualifications: a fish head, a black shirt, bullets, and an SUV. And, by finding it, I have probably put an end to a two week debate between Eric and his friend and have possibly earned Eric 20 bucks.

The moral of the story? Nerdiness pays off, my friends. Watch lots of Sci-Fi. It'll pay off....someday.
